In the past century, advertising and marketing have changed drastically. There
was a time when advertising was primarily done through word of mouth, the local
newspaper, or perhaps fliers passed out from door to door. Times have changed.
With the numerous inventions over the past century there are many new avenues
marketing agents utilize to reach the masses. While it is still true that word
of mouth is one of the most effective methods of advertisement, for the average
business word of mouth is just not enough. People expect to have access to
information about the products and services that businesses provide 24 hours a
day 7 days a week.

A family would like to have a custom home built. However, they need to find a
contractor who will do quality work at an affordable price. Opening the yellow
pages, they find thirteen contractors listed. Three of these contractors have
websites listed and one of those has a picture gallery of their most recent
work. Which contractor do you think is going to get the business?
The most likely senario will be that the couple will explore the websites of the
three contractors and, upon viewing the picture gallary of John Doe
Contracting, will arrange to meet with John Doe for an estimate. After all, a
picture is worth a thousand words. This senario is becoming a common occurance.
It doesn't matter if you run a day care center from home or you are the CEO of
a Fourtune 500 company. Times are changing and it is imparative that people
evaluate their options. Companies need to utilize every avenue available to
compete in todays market.
